OPI Holland Collection Part 2

This is part 2 of the OPI Holland collection, although I only have 5 out of the remaining 6 shades.

I Don't Give A Rotterdam

I Don't Give A Rotterdam is a stormy grey blue with flecks of gritty shimmer.

Dutch Ya Just Love OPI?

Dutch Ya Just Love OPI? is a rich, deep purple complete with golden flecks.

Did You 'Ear About Van Gogh?

Did You 'Ear About Van Gogh? is a beige creme reminiscent of modelling clay.

A Roll in the Hague

A Roll in the Hague is a bright orange creme.

Kiss Me On My Tulips

Kiss Me On My Tulips is a very pretty bright pink creme.

Have you picked up any of the colours from the Holland collection?

Chanel Distraction

Chanel Distraction is part of the Les Roses Ultimes de Chanel which was released in February 2012 in the States. I haven't heard much about it over here but I presume it will be released at some stage? I was lucky enough to have a wonderful friend send it to me.

Distraction is the perfect summer coral with additional pink micro-shimmer running throughout it.

It is so hard to pick up the shimmer on the nail in the photos but you can clearly see it in the bottle.

It applies beautifully and I know this is a colour that I will be wearing a lot throughout the summer!

Nail Polish Buying Ban!

I haven't bought any nail polish since early March bar one No7 which I only got because I had a Boots No7 voucher. One of the main reasons I didn't buy any was because I was sent a few nail polishes from a friend in America and I had bought quite a number from the Spring collections. (And also because I need to try and control my addiction to nail polish).

And so I am going to continue with my nail polish buying ban until I have worn (for at least one day) all the nail polish in the picture above. I've been working out of this pile for about 2 weeks and I've worn 5 of them so far - I ended up wearing one of them for a whole week, which never happens!  A couple of the polishes are ones that I've had for a few months but never got around to properly wearing so I included them in the gang!

It should take me until the end of the month at least to get through them all! And only then will I allow myself to buy some ones that I've being eyeing up lol!

Rimmel Quad E.O.T.D.

Rimmel Colour Rush Quad in 002 Smokey Brun

This is the second eye look I’ve created using one of my forgotten palettes from this post.

This Rimmel Colour Rush Quad Eye Shadow was one of my first ever palettes and it got a crazy amount of use although you wouldn’t think it to look at – barely a dent in the shadows!

Before I used this again, I thought it was going to be really hard to work with as I remember comparing it to my first MAC eyeshadows when I got them and the difference in pigmentation was huge. However, I was pleasantly surprised when I used it. While I did have to work harder with it to get colour and to blend it out – it wasn’t nearly as bad as I had anticipated.

To achieve this look I:

  • Primed with UDPP in Original and Benefit Cream Eyeshadow in Recess
  • Then I used the second lightest shade all over the lid
  • I used the second darkest shade on the outer lid
  • The darkest shade was placed in the crease and on the lower lash line
  • The lightest shade was applied to the brow bone
  • Maybelline Gel Eyeliner was applied on the upper lash line
  • Finally Maybelline Falsies mascara was used.

It is a very, very light barely there look. They certainly aren’t the most intensely pigmented shadows, but you know what? It ain’t too bad at all.

My Easter Mani!

I hope everybody is having a good Easter weekend and isn't too sick after eating too many eggs!

Isn't this such a cute Easter design? I can't lay claim to it unfortunately, I saw it on Cosmetic Cupcake's blog during the week. (This post) As soon as I saw it I knew I had to re-create it this weekend. I put it on yesterday and a few people guessed what it was supposed to be! (Even when I didn't have the creme egg!)

I would have preferred a stronger, more definite yellow but this was the darkest yellow I had.

My poor nail on my index finger is still a bit stubby looking after a bad break:( Really need to re-shape my nails as well but I wanted to keep as much length as I could for this design!

The polishes I used for this was:

  • No7 Salsa over the entire nail (Red)
  • Essie Sexy Divide diagonally on the top of the nail (Purple)
  • China Glaze Icicle as a dividing line between red and purple (Silver)
  • OPI Fiercely Fiona for the splat and dots (Yellow)

Once again check out Cosmetic Cupcake's blog, she has some great designs:)

Did you do an Easter mani this year?

Essie Navigate Her

Happy Easter Sunday! I hope everyone got loads of lovely Easter Eggs:) Today is perfect to post a lovely Spring/Eastery shade.

Essie's Navigate Her hails from their S/S 2012 collection.

I was instantly drawn to this pistachio green shade and I wasn't disappointed in how stunning the colour is on the nails.

Formula wasn't the best ever. It ended up slightly lumpy but I think that was mainly my own fault by not letting the first coat dry for long enough.

Hype Review: Boscia Black Mask

The Boscia Black Mask is a peel-off luminizing mask. I read a lot of rave reviews of this product and as I was in the middle of sorting out my skin I decided it was a good time to give it a go.

What is it: It’s a peel-off mask that is indeed jet black. It says it's a mask 'that boosts skin clarity and radiance. Removes dirt and impurities while refining the look of pores. Reveals a smoother, brighter complexion'.

A drop of the good stuff

How to use it: You smooth the facemask on to clean, dry skin and allow it to dry for about 20 minutes. Unfortunately it doesn’t peel off in one fell swoop so you will have to peel it off in bits. For this reason prepare for a bit of mess in the sink. Any stubborn bits that you can’t peel off will wash away very easily with water. I wouldn’t say peeling it off hurts as such, but there is a slight ‘peeling of a plaster effect’, though it’s not as severe.

Availability: As far as I’m aware it isn’t available in Ireland. I bought the travel sized one off eBay just to test it out. The Boscia website will deliver to Ireland though.

Price: It cost me $19.06 including shipping from eBay for a 1oz bottle.

Did it work: This stuff is incredible! Whilst I wasn’t sceptical about using it, I wasn’t expecting a miracle either. But wow, never have I gotten up in the morning after using a skin product the previous night and actually go ‘wow’ when I look at myself in the mirror. This is what happened the morning after I used the Boscia Black Mask. My skin looked so incredibly clear, especially around my jaw area, which had being cluttered with the dead remains of spots. Now, obviously it didn’t rid my skin of those but it certainly lightened the redness and just brought an overall clearness to my skin and yes, even a bit of luminosity. When I showed my mum she gave the same type of reaction – surprised and saw a noticeable difference. A difference which literally happened over night.

Hype Worthiness: It hits it out of the park. I never expected it to be this good. A definite must have in your skincare routine.
