Revlon Blue Lagoon

I bought Blue Lagoon last summer and I didn't wear it nearly as much as I should have.

It's a bright, bright, baby blue complete with a little bit of microshimmer to give it that little pizazz.

The formula was fine and it applied hassle free:)

A Little Bit Of No7 Love!

Ah those wonderful No7 vouchers that Boots are so fond of giving out. I got so many around January time and ended up getting all nail varnish with them. Here are some of my favourites.

Vivid Violet. 

A beautiful royal purple. No blue tint.

Tangy.

 A delectable bright orange.

Totally Teal. 

A moody darkened teal. Kind of grungy.

Highland Mist. 

Darker than your usual nude but not yet a pink. Unusual looking but elegant.

Do you usually avail of the No7 vouchers or do they remain crumpled at the bottom of your purse until you find them months after expiry? This used to happen me a lot hah!

China Glaze Blue Iguana

Blue Iguana was released with the Island Escape Collection in Summer 2011.

It is a stunning shimmery blue.

It applies a lot lighter than it appears to be in the bottle. 

I really liked all of the shades in this collection. I don't know if I could pick a favourite!

Rimmel Blue Vogue

This is a shade that I simply adore. A dark blue, nearly navy colour. Add a deep shine/shimmer and I'm yours!

This is Rimmel Blue Vogue.

Very easy to apply. Ooh it's like an ink stain all over your nails :D

Essie Cocktail Bling

Essie Cocktail Bling hails from a recent collection, Cocktail Bling Winter 2011.

Cocktail Bling is a greyed out blue with the gentlest hint of a purple undertone.

I felt that this was a really smooth and sleek polish both in looks and application. It feels like a very articulate and elegant colour to wear. 

OPI Go On Green

OPI Go On Green is possible one of the worst named polishes as to me it is most certainly blue! There is a gorgeous green sheen running throughout it but it's blue enough to have earned itself a place on my blue swatch wheel!

It is such a stunning colour and surprisingly not as sheer as I thought it would be. The photos are 3 coats which is fairly average for the amount of coats I tend to do.

It looks really blue here.

I simply adore how it looks in the bottle.

I seem to have a thing for polishes that are quite sheer - particularly greens and blues. I'm glad that for once this chosen polish didn't require an insane amount of layering!

China Glaze Frostbite

Monday again! Not that I'm complaining as I'm off for the week!

How cool is this colour?! It is a seriously bright, vibrant blue. There's no messing around with this colour - it's a straight up, in your face, blue.

It's the kind of colour that you get a shock when you look at your nails because it's there. It certainly doesn't blend in. (Unless of course you really do have frostbite. But then the colour of your nails is the least of your worries).

Smooth and easy to apply. Just how I like it.

And just because it reminded me of this, I had to include it.

I'm blue da ba dee ba da ba die....

                                          

OPI Nicki Manji: Pink Friday & Fly

I just got two polishes from the recently released Nicki Manji collection. 

Pink Friday is the perfect Barbie pink. I think it is so hard to get an original or unique pink and whilst this probably isn't a unique shade, there is just something about it that I love. 

Formula wise, Pink Friday was very thick and incredibly opaque after just one coat. I did 2 for the photos but really you would have no problem leaving this as a one-coater.

Fly surprised me. I really wasn't sure if I would be that keen on it, but I actually love it! It's definitely a blue creme but there is a dash of green teal in it as well.

 

Formula wise, Fly was the polar opposite of Pink Friday. It was really thin and watery. I thought this would cause trouble but Fly surprised me once again by being fine after 2 coats. However, you do need 3 coats to completely eradicate VNL.

Have you picked up any shades from this collection?

Bourjois Blue Délavé

I thought I would show one of my oldest nail varnishes. I bought this when I was in love with all Bourjois products. I think it was the French name, it made every thing sound so much more sophisticated and we all know how at 14 being older than you are is the most important thing, ever.

Blue Délavé is an extremely sheer varnish. This is about 4 coats. It really would be best to layer it over another blue varnish. 

I quite like it though, it seems like an icy blue. Cold, like an angry sea. 

I haven't bought any Bourjois nail vanishes in a long long time. I only have two left in my collection. Any other old Bourjois fans out there?

Wet n Wild Blue Had Me At Hello

Seeing as today's 31 Day Nail Challenge was to wear a blue nail varnish, I decided that today was the perfect day to post my thoughts on another Wet n Wild Palette - Blue Had Me At Hello. To complement my blue nails today, I wore this blue eyeshadow and a rather fetching blue outfit. :) I jest, I jest, the eyeshadow was worn a couple of weeks ago. ( And unfortunately I was just in my black work clothes today).

Anyways, onto this amazing palette. I love blue eyeshadow but every time I go to wear it, my brush hovers over the shadow and just before I lace my brush with powdery blue goodness....The Fear sets in. In this case The Fear relates to 'Oh no if this goes wrong everybody is going to think I look like I should be back in the eighties' fear. Frankly, I'm content to wear just about anything and I don't care what people think but there's just that 'thing' with blue eyeshadow and the eighties that just makes me shudder. 

Nonetheless after a few failed attempts of nearly using this palette I eventually managed to create both the looks as dictated by this palette.

I really like this side of the palette. There wasn't an awful lot of fallout from the shadows and there was good pigmntation in the colours. (As for the yellow toned pictures? eh I don't really know, I'm guessing I took them at night:()

Urban Decay 24/7 liner in Zero on upper lash line and half of lower waterline.

Lancome Hypnose Mascara

I loved this. Absolutely adored it. I feel that it creates a nice smoky eye that you could easily amp up even further for night time. Definitely preferred this side of the palette to the other.

31 Day Nail Challenge - Day 5

Day 5

It's Wednesday! We're halfway through the week! Blue is the colour residing on my nails today. 

I chose to wear Hip Queens Wear Blue Jeans by Catrice. Catrice has quickly become one of my favourite nail varnish brands.  It has a fantastic colour selection, is as cheap as chips (even cheaper!) and readily available to us Europeans, hurrah! Hip Queens Wear Blue Jeans is a medium blue with a subtle shimmer.
