What's In My Shower!

I've seen a few of these videos floating around YouTube and while I initially thought it was a bit odd, it does make sense in the beauty community!
I've mentioned before that I change around my shampoos a lot and I do the same with shower gels etc. The other morning I changed out my shampoo and I realised how all the bottles were in the same colour sprectrum. Perfect time for a photo!

On the top half of the shower rack I keep Kérastase Cristalliste shampoo and conditioner, L'oreal Nutri-Gloss Sparkling Shimmer shampoo, a cheap Tesco conditioner that I use instead of shaving gel, Soap and Glory The Scrub of Your Life exfolaitor, Philosophy Tinsel Town body wash and Bath and Body Works Dark Kiss body wash.

On the bottom little shelf I have two tubs of intensive hair conditioner. A Herbal Essence Beautiful Ends one and Umberto Gianni Indulgent Beauty Moisture Mask. I alternate these two every time and usually use them 1-2 times a week (I wash my hair 3-4 times a week). I keep a wide-toothed comb here as well to brush through my conditioner. I also currently have a pink loofah, pretty.

On the shower thing I have a razor and a Lush tin which currently houses Aqua Mirabillis. I really like this and I think I prefer it to Buffy. I prefer the smell and it's not as greasy feeling.

And that's it for what's currently in my shower. Although I have a couple more bottles of shampoo/conditioner that I'm rotating I'm nearly out of all of body wash and exfolaitor. I'm going to be in Dublin tomorrow so I think I'll have to call into Lush and pick up some of their Christmas products!

Missing: Blogging Mojo

Ah blogging mojo is a great thing. You have so much inspiration and just can't seem to stop writing blog posts or thinking of new ones and your little blogging notebook is jam-packed. And then your mojo disappears. Mine is away on holiday somewhere, no word of warning just gone and with no return date confirmed.

Mojo: Gone to the Swiss Alps perhaps?

I love blogging so much but the last few days I'm just stuck. I can't think of any new or fun or original posts to write so I'm not going to put pressure on myself to create something fantastic. Blogging is supposed to be fun for me and piling pressure on myself is not fun.

So for the next few weeks, the blog is pretty much going to be all about the nails. I know that's what it has turned into the last few months anyways but I'm happy with it being more of a nail orientated blog with added beauty bits. I'm trying to get all the photos of my nail polish that are currently in my computer library posted. Some of them are so bad that they have already being set aside for re-swatching once I'm happy with my nail length but the remainder I will post. By all means a lot of them aren't fantastic quality/angles but they aren't too bad and I don't think I could set about re-swatching all of them! I already have a shoebox full of polish that has never being swatched before! Damn you stubby nails!  I'd like to get them all out of the way though so that once they are all done, any future nail posts will be of similar quality/angle/length i.e. a style I am happy with.

Mojo: Enjoying Irish sunsets, maybe?

So yes, that's a long explanation of saying that nearly all of my blog posts will be nail posts over the next few weeks until my mojo returns from holiday. One beauty post that I will get up however is some of the new MAC Heavenly Creatures items. I'm waiting for them to arrive but I will post pictures and swatches in case they help anybody decide what to buy.

How You Know You're A Crazy Cat Lady

The word cat can be substituted with the plural cats or dog or any pet that owns you.

  • You stand bent at an awkward angle because the cat has decided they want to sit on your back. You stay there until the cat decides to leave.
  • It is completely normal to wake up in the morning with a cat asleep on top of your head.
  • You will sleep on the 'wrong' side of the bed because the cat has decided it is sleeping on your side. It doesn't even cross your mind to move said cat.
  • You make your cat a cup of tea on a winter's morning. In their own special cup and saucer.
  • You get up throughout the night to let your cat in and out as they please. Summer is notorious for this.
  • If you can't sleep and the cat is on the bed, you avoid tossing and turning too much as your cat will give out to you.
  • You have walked around outside with your cat sitting on your shoulder.
  • You have made a fool of yourself outside your house trying to rescue your cat from a tree/high wall/top of a tractor etc. Particularly during kittenhood/adolescence.
  • You buy your cat presents at Christmas. And take photos of them opening it.
  • You have a picture of your cat in a photo frame. On display in the house.
  • You have more photos of your cat on your phone cat than of anything else.
  • When your cat goes outside you tell them to be careful and look both ways crossing the road.
  • When they come inside you say to them any craic/any news for me.
  • If you are away and Skype home, the cat has to be brought on Skype.
  • If they are on holidays in a cattery you ring the cattery after their first night to see how they settled in.
  • People give you presents of things with cats on it - books, notepads, jewelary, cups etc.
  • You write a blog post about cats on a beauty blog.

(Based on true life and genuinely not exaggerated.)

What The Hype?!

As I sit in my room, surrounded by make-up and beauty related items, I began to think of all the things I have bought because of the hype. Because they were the new wonder product. The new must have. The holy grail.

And as I thought this, I wondered how many of them lived up to that expectation. That hype. Was it worth craving? Was it worth searching for? Was it worth the money?

And so I am going to begin reviewing some of the products that I have bought because of the hype. Off the top of my head, this minute I'm thinking of things like the Clarisonic, Bioderma cleansing solution cleanser, Origins Gin Zing eye cream etc.

Most of the things probably are worth it because although I'm a dreadful impulse buyer and easily swayed by hype, if I know in my gut it won't suit me, then I won't buy it.

So we shall see. Stay tuned.

Sample Much?

I'm sure you have all gleefully taken samples out of magazines or relished samples that came with online orders. I always do. Then I put them away in my sample drawer. And I forget about them until it's time to put another sample in.

Until Now! I've taken out the drawer, I've filled my shower with the shampoo and body wash samples. The body lotions/moisturisers/butters are lined up ready to be used. And I have make-up samples that I'd forgotton about, woot!

Let the sampling commence!

Snow, Already?!

I was sorting through all my photos on the laptop and I came across these photos that I took last December of the snow. Although the snow and subsequent icy weather has caused havoc the last couple of years, there's no denying how pretty it all is!

I thought I'd post these few pictures (out of a lot) before I end up taking this year's batch of ones :D
